Programme

Wednesday Evening meetings are held 7.30pm at The Old School, South Road, Sully, Penarth CF64 5TG
Saturday Workshops 10am-4pm at the Scout Hall, 9, Highwalls Road, DINAS POWYS CF64 4AG

All attendees to workshops are asked to bring a contribution toward a shared lunch. Tea / Coffee provided. Please contact a guild member for price information and to book a place for workshops. Maps and Contact details for members can be found on the Contact Us page.

Saturday 10th January, 10-4

Drop spindle spinning workshop. Andrew Johnson. Andrew will teach the art of drop spindle spinning, Members £12, Visitors £15.

Wednesday 11 Feb 7.30pm

Talk- Jeni Brown, Fyberspates, Jeni will talk to us about her collection of fibres and yarns, how she selects and dyes them ready for the retail market. She will also be bringing yarn and fibres for us to buy.

Wednesday 11th March 7.30pm

Annual General Meeting. Followed by 'Show and Tell' by members.

Wednesday 8th April, 7.30pm

Tapestry weaving evening, to follow on at the May workshop.

Saturday 9th May, 10-4

Self Help workshop, Continuation of last month’s Tapestry weaving. Plus A Discussion on ways which recycled materials can be used in spinning and weaving.

Wednesday 10th June, 7.30pm

Talk – Sheila Cowling “Magical mystical alpacas and the fibres of the gods” Sheila has her own flock of alpacas and will be bringing some of her fleece to sell.

Saturday 4th July, 10-4

Unusual Boxes Workshop, Doreen Barnaville. Doreen will be teaching us how to make interesting bxes using cardboard and paper.

Wednesday 9th September, 7.30pm

Talk - Patricia Mears- An artists view. Patricia’s work includes silk painting, embroidery, mono prints, felt and more. She will tell us how she gets ideas for her work.

September 24th to September 30th, 10-5

30th Annual Exhibition, demonstrations by members whose work will be on display at the Oakdale Institute, Museum of Welsh life, St. Fagans, Cardiff.

October 1st - 3rd, 10 - 5

Stitches and Hobbycrafts show at Cardiff International Arena, Mary Ann Street, Cardiff. The Glamorgan guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers have a stand at this popular craft show. Members will be available to discuss / demonstrate spinning, weaving and dyeing, Some work will be exhibited, come and find out more information about the guild, our workshops and talks.

Saturday 10th October, 10-4

Self Help Workshop, Spinning, Weaving and Braidmaking. A fun day exchanging ideas and skills.

Wednesday 11th November, 7.30pm

Talk – Louise Mumford ”The Llan-gors textile. Secrets of an early medieval masterpiece” Louise will explain how this exciting piece of history was discovered.

Wednesday 9th December, 7.30pm

Christmas Get-together.
