Saturday 12th January, 10-4 Silk spinning workshop. Margaret Hansford. Spinning Wheels available, You may spin other fibres if you wish. Visitors do come and try your hand at any or all of these techniques - it is surprising what you can achieve. Tuesday 5th Feb 7.30pm Talk / Slides - David Allen - A Nepalese Experience. David will give an illustrated talk. Tuesday 4th March 7.30pm Annual General Meeting. Followed by a Warping Demonstration by Kathy Williams, Weaver. Tuesday 1st April, 7.30pm Talk / slides - Sue Hiley Harris "Then to Now ". Sue will give an illustrated talk about her work and it's development over the years. Saturday 17th May, 10-4 Workshop by Suzen Millidot - Chinese Knots. Following her interesting talk last May (2007), students will be able to make their own examples under her guidance. Tuesday 3rd June, 7.30pm Talk – Andrew Johnson - Shackleton Scholar. Andrew will give a talk on his recent visit to the Falkland Isles where he spent Three weeks as a Shackleton Scholar teaching Spinning, Weaving and Dyeing to the residents. Saturday 5th July, 10-4 Workshop - Natural Dyes, @ Craft in the Bay. Led by Margaret Hansford and members of the Glamorgan Guild. July 14th - 22nd 29th Annual Exhibition at Oakdale Institute, Museum of Welsh Life, St Fagans, Cardiff. For one week, Members wil be exhibiting their work and demonstrating their skills. Entry to the museum is free, some of the members work will be for sale. Members will be demonstrating various skills daily. Tuesday 2nd September, 7.30pm Inkle Braids Weaving Workshop - Part 1 @ Old School, Sully. Led by members Jane Nicholls and Kathy Williams. Inkle looms will be available to buy or borrow. September Stitches and Hobbycrafts show at Cardiff International Arena, Mary Ann Street, Cardiff. The Glamorgan guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers have a stand at this popular craft show. Members will be available to discuss / demonstrate spinning, weaving and dyeing, Some work will be exhibited, come and find out more information about the guild, our workshops and talks. Saturday 4th October, 10-4 Inkle Braids Weaving Workshop - Part 2 @ Scout Hall, Dinas Powys. Followed by Talk - Bobbie Cox - Talk / Slides - Landscape into Tapestry Tuesday 4th November, 7.30pm Talk – Swaheli Textiles - Rosalind Johansen. Rosalind will give a talk and show samples of work acquired whilst abroad. Rosalind is herself a weaver. Tuesday 8th December, 7.30pm Christmas Get-together. |
