Saturday 20th January, 10-4 Workshop - SPINNING (Wheels available), INKLE WEAVING (looms available) and KUMIHIMO BRAIDING (again looms and bobbins available). Visitors and non practioners do come and try your hand at any or all of these techniques. Tuesday 6th Feb 7.30pm Talk - Kathy Williams - Tapestry/Rug Weaver will talk about her own work. Kathy is known for her intricate woven rugs. Tuesday 6th March 7.30pm Annual General Meeting. Followed by 'Show and Tell'. Members discuss and explain new items or techniques on work completed or in progress. Saturday 31st March, 10-4 Weaving Workshop - Kathy Williams, who will teach interlocking and other tapestry techniques using frame looms. (Some will be available to borrow). Tuesday 1st May, 7.30pm Talk - Chinese Knots - Suzen Millidot Talk and Demonstartion of the making of these forms of decoration, their structure and uses. Copies of her own books for sale. Saturday 2nd June, 10-4 Needle Felt Workshop - Felt making using the needle felted method with Olwen Veevers. Tuesday 3rd July, 7.30pm Talk - John Cunningham, Professional Textile Dyer, will give a talk on the intricacies of colour and colour measurement; he uses mainly chemical dyes and this should be interesting to all who dye their own fibres, yarns or fabric. August 20th - 27th 28th Annual Exhibition at Museum of Welsh Life, St Fagans, Cardiff. For one week, Members exhibit their work and demonstrate their skills. Entry to the museum is free, some of the members work will be for sale. Members will be demonstrating various skills daily. Tuesday 4th September, 7.30pm Talk - Falkland Isles Tourism, Culture/Sheep - Annabelle Spencer will talk about the Isles, the way of life and the sheep that inhabit them. Fleece/sales table. September Stitches and Hobbycrafts show at Cardiff International Arena, Mary Ann Street, Cardiff. The Glamorgan guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers have a stand at this popular craft show. Members will be available to discuss / demonstrate spinning, weaving and dyeing, Some work will be exhibited, come and find out more information about the guild, our workshops and talks. Saturday 13th October, 10-4 Tassels for Christmas -Jane Nicholls will lead this workshop and provide the materials required for the day. Tuesday 6th November, 7.30pm Talk – Stacey Harvey-Brown ' Looming Life' Formerley a professional musician, she switched to weaving and found it totally absorbing. Tuesday 4th December, 7.30pm Christmas Get-together. |
